Edmonton, Alberta - 21 December 2007

EMIS Inc. Achieves Conformance for Alberta Vendor Conformance and Usability Requirements (VCUR)

EMIS Inc. is pleased to announce, that consistent with its stated plans and commitments, it has achieved notice from Alberta’s Physician Office System Program (POSP) that its Patient Care System (PCS) will continue eligibility for POSP funding support without interruption. This notice is the result of EMIS Inc. having successfully demonstrated data integration with the Province’s Pharmaceutical Information Network (PIN) as part of the “Level 2 Conformance Testing.”

“We are pleased that we have achieved this level of conformance within the intended timeframe. POSP eligible physicians wishing to utilize our PCS system will continue to receive the benefits they expect from the POSP program” said Charles Aram, Director of Strategic Projects for EMIS Inc.

As part of the conformance testing, EMIS Inc. identified a series of areas that the integration with PIN could be improved to enhance the quality of medicine practiced throughout Alberta. These areas have been documented by the POSP office.

Mr. Aram continued, “Our demonstrating this level of integration was an extended process for EMIS, as we remained steadfast in our goal to not merely demonstrate technical integration of passing data between the system as the requirement calls for, but doing so in a way that will lead to better patient care - the core ethos of EMIS Inc. It is a fundamental tenet of everything we do that the health of the patient is at the forefront of all considerations. The areas we identified that can be improved upon in the provincial systems will benefit all Albertans. We are working with the respective provincial parties to improve these systems in achieving this end.”

EMIS Inc. launched its Canadian operations expanding on its success as the number one provider of EMR solutions in the UK and other countries. EMIS Inc., headquartered in Edmonton, has become recognized in Canada as one of the pre-eminent solutions able to improve the health of Canadians and the daily activities of their providers through the use of a physician-centric, clinically based electronic medical record.
