Edmonton, Alberta - 23 June 2008
EMIS INC. ADDS CANADIAN PHARMACIST
EMIS Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Audrey Bliss, B.Pharmacy in the newly created role of Coding & Drug Coordinator for Canada. Ms. Bliss has most recently served as a pharmacist for the Home Parenteral Therapy program for Capital Health Authority in Edmonton, and has over 20 years of experience in clinical pharmacy.
In the newly created role of Coding & Drug Coordinator, Ms. Bliss will serve as the Canadian lead supporting the work of EMIS’ Coding & Drug Information (CDI) department, based in Leeds, United Kingdom. The CDI Department of EMIS has the dedicated role of developing, maintaining, and delivering the underlying clinical data at the foundation of EMIS’ electronic medical record (EMR) and research systems. The CDI team’s concentration includes not only its proprietary pharmaceutical database and decision support knowledgebase, but numerous coding sets, including Read Coding, SNOMED-CT, ICD, LOINC, CCI, and others. The Department has a specific Canadian-focused sub-team that is applying and maintaining CDI’s work into a Canadian-centric context. This newly created role is intended to more closely localize CDI’s interaction in Canada, to enhance this effort.
According to Dr Jonathan Meadows, General Manager for Coding and Drug Information and Clinical Safety Officer at EMIS, “Adding Ms. Bliss to the Canadian team is very exciting. Not only does she bring additional clinical background to the Canadian team, but we will now be able to locate the entire CDI effort more closely to our customers, and provide an even higher level of support.”
