EMIS is the UK’s leading EMR system supplier, hosting over 39 million EMRs within its systems. Around 56 per cent of UK primary care physicians use an EMIS EMR system each day. EMIS is a large, independent organization with over 800 staff worldwide and annual revenues of  over £57m.

EMIS is based in the UK and Canada, including Development and Support. Training for physician clinics is localized and headed by Business Development and Operations Managers with teams of Operations Managers providing high levels of local area support to physician clinics in both Canada and the UK.

Company history

EMIS began 18 years ago in a rural dispensing clinic in North Yorkshire, England, where Dr Peter Sowerby wrote the software in association with co-author and Clinical Director Dr David Stables. EMIS is now the UK market leader for EMR systems and is widely acknowledged as being at the forefront of medical informatics, helping primary healthcare to benefit from the accelerating pace of information technology.
